Seeing an app in the Google Play Store usually comes with a pretty safe assumption: your Android phone can probably run it. But Google’s new Antigravity listing reminds us that the Googlebook OS is about to make that assumption a lot less reliable. Antigravity has now landed on Google Play, but despite the familiar storefront, this is very much a Googlebook app — and our attempt to force it onto a Pixel phone went nowhere.
The Play Store listing itself gives the game away as soon as you open it on the web. Google describes Antigravity as an agent-first development platform that can create and deploy apps directly on a Googlebook, with agents able to write, edit, and manage code, projects, and files locally. Google Play also marks regular Android devices as incompatible, which explains why searching for Antigravity from a phone doesn’t surface the app at all.
